Anthony Travers, OBE, is the Chairman of the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange, former Chairman of Cayman Finance and former President of the Cayman Islands Law Society.<\/p>\n
Having qualified at Clifford \u2013Turner in 1975, he spent his thirty year legal career years with leading offshore law firm Maples and Calder where he served as Senior Partner and a Managing Partner for over twenty years both in Cayman and in various foreign offices that he established for the firm.<\/p>\n
Seeing himself in danger of becoming a figure of Greek mythological proportions, half man, half desk, he retired from Maples and Calder in 2006 and\u00a0spent the next six\u00a0winters of a non compete agreement in almost perfecting his parallel carved turn on the slopes of Aspen and acting\u00a0as Chairman of the Cayman Islands National Ski Team.<\/p>\n
On 1st December 2012 Anthony stepped back into private practice as the Senior Partner of Cayman Islands and BVI boutique law firm Thorp Alberga, which was renamed Travers Thorp Alberga.<\/p>\n
He has extensive experience in all aspects of Cayman Islands law and has worked closely with the Government in the development of Cayman Islands legislation particularly the Mutual funds and Private Equity legislation and legislation relating to the establishment of Private Trusts.<\/p>\n
Anthony was made an Officer of the Most Excellent Order (OBE) for his services to the Government and the Financial sector in August 1998. Anthony has written numerous articles and speaks regularly at conferences and seminars.<\/p>\n
Anthony is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales, and the Cayman Islands Law Society.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
